Traditionally, a ghost light in the theatre would be lit on an empty stage so that stagehands or technicians working in the theatre would have a light to prevent causing injury to themselves. However, more commonly in the theatre world, it is believed that ghost light remains lit when the theatre is empty so that the spirits of past actors can still perform. The ghost light is a single light globe on a stand positioned in the centre of the stage.

Across the world, ghost lights have been switched on in pretty much every theatre due to lockdowns and social distancing requirements as governments and society try to control the spread of the Coronavirus.

The Ghost Light Concert features performers and musicians recorded as live on the stage of the Zenith Theatre, Chatswood. This concert is raw and untapped, to provide our audiences and people missing live performances the feeling of being in the theatre once again.

This concert has been made possible because of Willoughby City Council and The Zenith Theatres commitment to ensuring the performing arts community is preserved and accommodated during these difficult times until we can welcome everyone back into the theatre once again.
